The Capisco is tested and approved for users up to 110 kg under EN 1335 Class A (the European office chair standard), and also to the American ANSI/BIFMA standard.

The HÅG Capisco 8106, 8126, 8107 and 8127 are tested and approved to EN 1335, the European standard for office chair safety, strength, durability and ergonomic dimensions.

It may be less suitable for very long sitting sessions, too wide for petite users, it has fewer traditional ergonomic features, and it is not ideal for low desks.

You can’t take the castors apart, but you can pull them out of the base, which makes cleaning much easier.

1. Remove the castors. Turn the chair on its side and pull each castor straight out of the base. They’re push-fit, so no tools are needed.
2. Clean the wheels. Wipe them with a damp cloth.
3. Remove hair and threads. Anything wrapped around the axle can only be cut loose and pulled out, for example with small scissors.
4. Put them back. Push each castor firmly back into its hole in the base.

Worn or damaged castors? You can order new HÅG castors for hard floors, soft floors or both.

Only the foot base comes in polished aluminium. With a polished base, the gas lift (and foot ring, if added) come in silver by default.

On request, a polished base can be combined with a gas lift in black, white, silver, blush rose or moss grey. Contact us for these combinations.

The headrest tube is available in moss grey, blush rose, black and silver.

We don't send samples ourselves; the fabric makers do, usually for free. For example, for the popular Select wool by Gabriel, go to gabriel.dk, search for “Select” and order a sample there. Other fabric suppliers work the same way.

Yes, made to order. Elmovintage is outside the standard and extended collections, so it is priced at the price group 7 list price plus 10%.

Keep in mind that Elmovintage is very smooth: it looks and feels premium but gives less grip during active sitting. For comfort and stability we recommend Elmosoft leather.

All our fabrics are very durable. Ranked by abrasion resistance (Martindale cycles):

For maximum durability and easy cleaning, choose Illusion or PUXX 1. For durable wool, choose Select or Capture.

Both are black fabrics, from different collections:

• SC60999 is black Select by Gabriel, a wool blend with a natural look and feel.
• EXR009 is black Xtreme by Camira, a hard-wearing polyester.

We prefer Select: it is natural and just as durable as Xtreme.

Not anymore. The stitch-free cushion did not work with every fabric, so the manufacturer switched all 8020 cushions to the same stitching as the 8106. This makes almost every fabric available.

How to add a headrest to the Capisco Puls

Yes. Without the headrest, the 8107 is identical to the 8106.

Only if your chair was made after 1 February 2005. The headrest of the Capisco 8107 does not fit older chairs, because their mounting points and the way the mechanism is attached are different.

Not sure how old your chair is? Find the production date on the sticker under the seat.

Yes. The headrest is height-adjustable and supports the head properly even for users around 200 cm.

You need one if your feet can't rest flat on the floor, for example at a high fixed desk. Otherwise it is optional: it gives you extra sitting positions, but you don't need it for a good working posture.

Yes. The foot ring is easy to add to or remove from your Capisco.

Yes. Fit the Capisco Puls 8020 seat cover on your 8010: it has a built-in cushion with extra padding, fits the 8010 seat base and is easy to install.

Yes. The 8010, 8020, 8106 and 8107 share the same seat mechanism (part 136213). Move the mechanism from your 8020 to an 8106 seat shell (part 146215).

The seat foam alone (part 103113) is not enough for this conversion.

The Capisco 8105 has a different seat that doesn't accept a backrest, so it can't be turned into an 8106.

Yes. Both use the same seat mechanism (part 136213), but you need a complete replacement seat:

• 8126 → 8106 saddle seat: 8106 seat, part 146215
• 8106 → 8126 flat seat: conversion kit 8106 to 8126

Yes, for chairs made after February 2005:

• Capisco 8105, 8106, 8107: HÅG Capisco upholstery (seat and backrest; seat only for the 8105)
• Capisco Puls 8001, 8002, 8010, 8020: Capisco Puls 8020 seat cover

For chairs made before February 2005 there are no replacement covers. The only option is to ask a local upholsterer to remake your original covers.

ESD (anti-static) chairs are the exception: they can only be reupholstered in the factory. More about ESD chairs.

The gas lift is most likely worn out.

• Chair under 10 years old: it is probably under warranty. Contact the shop where you bought it.
• Chair over 10 years old: replace the gas lift, using the unblocking tool.

Yes. The backrest is designed to move a little sideways, so you can move freely, especially when sitting backwards on the chair.

Not with the new mechanism: you need to lean back slightly to engage the lock. For a steadier upright feel, turn the tension knob under the seat up. At maximum it feels almost locked.

We do recommend a lower tension, so the chair keeps you moving.

Since February 2024 the Capisco has an updated mechanism to meet EN 1335-A/2020. A small lever now lets you increase the forward tilt of the seat from −1.6° (the old setting) to −3°. Everything else works as before.

One difference: the old version could be locked almost horizontally; the new one only locks after a slight backward tilt. Prefer less movement? Turn up the tension with the knob under the seat.

That is pre-applied threadlocker: a glue that keeps the bolt from coming loose. Check the assembly instructions to make sure the bolt is aligned correctly.

It can be stored in the cold, but it hasn't been tested for freezing conditions. Around 0 °C and below, plastics and synthetic covers can feel brittle, the foam gets harder and the gas lift may work slower.

ESD chairs can only be reupholstered in the factory, to keep their anti-static properties. Contact your local dealer for price and lead time.
