Collection: HÅG SoFi

HÅG SoFi

Soft on the outside. Seriously engineered inside.

Every HÅG SoFi sits on the same seat, the same HÅG inBalance® mechanism and the same aluminium base. What changes is the back — mesh or upholstered, medium or high — and whether the chair is set up for one person at a desk or for a meeting room. Here are all six, compared on the dimensions, options, fabrics and part numbers Flokk publishes.

The range

Three task chairs, three meeting chairs

Choose the back first — breathable mesh or fully upholstered, a 620 mm medium back or a 720 mm high back. Then decide whether it is a task chair for one person's desk or a Comm chair for a meeting room. The seat, the HÅG inBalance® movement and the 40–55 cm seat height are the same on all six.

Mesh or upholstered?

The mesh back on the 7500 and 7502 lets air through, so it stays cooler over a long day, and it reads lighter in an open-plan room because you see through it. It comes in five colours, and the seat is upholstered in your choice of fabric or leather.

The upholstered 7300, 7200, 7302 and 7202 are warmer, quieter to look at and can be covered in any of the fabrics and leathers below — seat and back match. Every cover can be replaced later, so an upholstered SoFi can be refreshed rather than replaced.

Task or Comm?

Choose a task model for a desk where one person sits for most of the day. Only the task chairs let you set the tilt resistance to your weight and lock it, and only they take the headrest, SlideBack armrests and the 200 mm lift.

Choose a Comm model for meeting and conference rooms, where people sit for an hour and nobody adjusts anything. It keeps the SoFi seat, back and free-flowing inBalance® movement, and can stand on a four-star base with glides so it stays where it is put.

How it works

What makes a SoFi a SoFi

An office chair is a complicated machine. The SoFi's design brief was to hide that machine inside a calm, simple piece of furniture — without losing any of the movement.

HÅG inBalance® — movement, not position

The seat and back tilt together, forwards and backwards, in a balanced, flowing movement that follows small shifts of your weight. Leaning forward to type and back to read are both supported positions, so you keep moving rather than bracing against a fixed backrest. On the task models you set the resistance to your body weight and can lock the tilt.

Lumbar support that moves with you

Every SoFi has adjustable lumbar support. On the mesh models it is a separate pad that slides up and down behind the mesh, so you can place it exactly in the small of your back; the pad's front and back covers are replaceable parts.

HÅG SlideBack™ armrests

An option on the task models. The armrests glide backwards, so you can pull in close to the desk edge or sit sideways in the chair, and come forward again when you need the support. The standard armrests adjust in height and width.

A machine turned into furniture

The SoFi was designed by Aleksander Borgenhov and Frost Produkt with Flokk's own design team, and launched in 2013, when it received the Norwegian Design Council's mark for good design. The mesh version followed at Orgatec in 2016. The designers describe the challenge as making something beautiful out of “what is in fact a highly advanced machine”.

That machine is still there, and it is serviceable: seat cover, back covers, headrest cushion, lumbar pads, gas lift and base are all orderable spare parts — see covers and parts.

Specifications

Dimensions, gas lifts and certification

Seat height depends on the gas lift you order, and the gas lift is the one part that is awkward to change your mind about later.

Gas lift options and resulting seat height
Gas lift Seat height Use it for
150 mm standard 40–55 cm Standard desks. The right lift for almost everyone, and the only lift on the Comm models.
200 mm 45–64 cm Task models only. High desks, and sit-stand desks used seated at height.

SoFi chairs built after 30 October 2023 use a different gas lift from earlier ones. If you are replacing a lift, tell us the production date on the label under the seat and we will order the right one.

Shared specifications

  • Seat width 450 mm, seat depth adjustable 380–460 mm
  • Back pad height 720 mm (7500, 7300, 7502, 7302) or 620 mm (7200, 7202)
  • Armrest height 185–300 mm; chair width 600–715 mm with armrests
  • Five-star aluminium base Ø730 mm; Comm four-star base Ø785 mm
  • Weight without armrests 17 kg (7500), 17.3 kg (7200), 17.5 kg (7300)

Standards and certification

  • EN 1335 Type A — the European standard for office-chair dimensions and safety. Upholstered and mesh task models.
  • NPR 1813-2016 — the Dutch practical guideline that Dutch employers and occupational-health services ask for. Task models only.
  • BS 5459-2 — the British standard for intensive use, tested for users up to 150 kg.
  • ANSI/BIFMA and the German GS mark (Geprüfte Sicherheit).
  • GREENGUARD Gold and Möbelfakta for indoor emissions and furniture quality.

Unless otherwise specified, HÅG rates its chairs for users up to 110 kg in line with EN 1335, which is based on eight hours of daily use; BS 5459-2 tests for more than eight hours a day and users up to 150 kg.

Configuration

Options and accessories

What you can add, what depends on what, and what has to be decided when you order.

Prices for each option are shown live in the configurator on each model's page. See also HÅG SoFi spare parts.

Materials

Fabric, leather and mesh

Flokk prices upholstery in groups. The group you pick moves the price of the chair more than any other single choice, so it is worth knowing what you are buying.

The fabric is the chair you touch

On an upholstered SoFi the fabric covers seat and back; on the mesh models it covers the seat and the mesh is chosen separately. Groups 1 and 2 are the recycled polyesters and New Zealand wools most offices order. Group 3 adds the tweed-like Capture. Groups 6 and 7 are the chrome-free semi-aniline leathers.

Five mesh colours

The mesh back of the 7500 and 7502 comes in Black MEH001, Grey MEH002, Burgundy MEH003, Dark Blue MEH004 and Putty Grey MEH005, at no extra cost.

We send free fabric samples before you decide. Ask for a set and we will post the groups you are weighing up.

Cleanable and healthcare upholstery

For clinical settings, PUxx 1 (group 3) and Illusion 3.0 (group 4) are polyurethane-coated, wipeable and can be disinfected with alcohol, chlorine or hydrogen peroxide solutions. Both carry a five-year rather than ten-year fabric warranty.

The designers

Frost Produkt & Aleksander Borgenhov

The SoFi was drawn by the Norwegian studio Frost Produkt and industrial designer Aleksander Borgenhov, working with Flokk's design team. Their starting point was the back: the part of an office chair everyone sees, and the part most chairs get wrong by making it look like machinery.

The result looks quiet on purpose. The mechanism, the lumbar adjustment and the armrest hardware sit inside a soft, rounded outline, so a room full of SoFis reads as furniture rather than equipment — which is also why the same chair works at a desk and around a meeting table.

Also available here: the HÅG Creed, HÅG Capisco and HÅG Tion.

Environment

Sustainability, in numbers

Independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are published for the SoFi 7300 and the SoFi mesh 7500. These are their headline indicators, excluding packaging and based on black recycled plastic.

Minimum spare-parts availability

The SoFi is built at Flokk's factory in Røros, Norway, in a plant certified to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. The upholstered models (7200, 7300 and the Comm 7202 and 7302) carry the EU Ecolabel when specified with black plastic, and the range has GREENGUARD Gold and Swedish Möbelfakta certification. If you need a certificate for a tender, tell us and we will confirm it against your specification.

The figure that matters most is not on any certificate: every cover on a SoFi is removable and replaceable, and Flokk commits to supplying spare parts for at least ten years after the production date. A chair you re-cover is a better environmental outcome than a chair you replace — the carbon footprint of the mesh 7500 (46.5 kg CO₂e) is almost identical to the upholstered 7300, so pick the one you will keep longest.

Ownership

Warranty, covers and spare parts

The warranty

  • 10 years on the chair and its accessories, for normal use up to nine hours a day.
  • 5 years for use beyond nine hours a day.
  • 5 years for 24/7 use, provided the upholstery is from the approved 24/7 list.
  • 10 years on standard-collection fabrics and leathers, except the polyurethane-coated ones (five years).

The warranty covers parts against material and manufacturing faults. Labour and call-out are charged. Normal wear, and wear or staining on white metal, white plastic and white textile or leather, are excluded. Using non-original parts voids it. Full terms on our warranty page.

Ordering

Lead times and Quick-Ship

A HÅG SoFi is built to your specification after you order, so the fabric you choose sets the lead time:

  • HÅG Quick-Ship — 15 working days. The SoFi 7200, 7300, mesh 7500 and the SoFi headrest, in selected Xtreme, Select and Paloma colours.
  • Standard collection — 20–25 working days.
  • Extended collection — 35 working days or more, subject to the mill holding the fabric.

These are indicative delivery times including transport. Quick-Ship orders cannot be changed or cancelled once submitted.

Chairs arrive unassembled, and putting one together takes a few minutes. The Comm models are not part of Quick-Ship.

If you need a specific delivery date, a large quantity, or a specification that is not in the configurator, ask us for a quote — we check the specification against Flokk's order requirements so the chair arrives right. For volume orders see business clients.

Questions

HÅG SoFi — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the HÅG SoFi 7200 and the 7300?

Backrest height, and nothing else that matters. The 7200 has a 620 mm medium back; the 7300 has a 720 mm high back that carries the shoulders. Both are fully upholstered and share the seat, base, mechanism and options, including the headrest.

Should I choose the mesh 7500 or the upholstered 7300?

Both have the same 720 mm high back, mechanism and options. The mesh 7500 breathes better and looks lighter in an open-plan room; the 7300 is warmer, can be covered entirely in your fabric or leather, and has a calmer look. Weight and carbon footprint are almost identical.

What does “Comm” mean on the SoFi 7502, 7302 and 7202?

Comm is short for Communication — Flokk's name for its meeting-room versions. They keep the SoFi seat, back and inBalance® movement but drop the tilt tension and lock, the headrest, SlideBack and the 200 mm lift, and can stand on a four-star base with glides.

Can I add a headrest later?

On the task models, yes: the complete headrest is a separate part (134188 for the 7200 and 7300, 134189 for the mesh 7500). It is not available for the Comm models or with the tumbled aluminium finishes, and on the 7500 it cannot be combined with the coat hanger.

What is the maximum user weight for a HÅG SoFi?

HÅG rates its chairs for users up to 110 kg in line with EN 1335, which assumes eight hours of daily use. The SoFi is additionally tested to the British standard BS 5459-2 for intensive use by people up to 150 kg.

Which gas lift do I need?

The standard 150 mm lift gives a 40–55 cm seat height and suits standard desks. The 200 mm lift, available on the task models, gives 45–64 cm for high desks and sit-stand desks used seated at height.

How long is the warranty on a HÅG SoFi?

Ten years on the chair and its accessories for normal use up to nine hours a day. Five years for use beyond nine hours a day, and five years for 24/7 use with approved upholstery. Flokk supplies spare parts for at least ten years after the production date.

Does the HÅG SoFi come assembled?

No — it ships unassembled and takes a few minutes to put together.

Is the HÅG SoFi available on Quick-Ship?

Yes: the SoFi 7200, 7300, mesh 7500 and the SoFi headrest are part of HÅG Quick-Ship in selected Xtreme, Select and Paloma colours, delivered in about 15 working days. The Comm models are not.

HÅG SoFi or HÅG Creed?

Both are Norwegian task chairs with the HÅG inBalance® mechanism. Choose the SoFi if you want a mesh back or matching meeting-room chairs. Choose the Creed for its 4-in-1 adjustment wheel, its wider choice of back heights or a partly upholstered back.

Dimensions, certifications, part numbers and lead times on this page are taken from Flokk's HÅG SoFi factsheets and the HÅG Benelux price list valid from 1 July 2026. Environmental figures are the published EPD indicators for the HÅG SoFi 7300 and SoFi mesh 7500. Specifications can change without notice; ask us to confirm before you order if a figure is critical to your decision.
