Mesh or solid?

The 1100 has a transparent FutuKnit mesh back. Air moves through it all day, which is what you want in a warm room or if you run warm yourself. Lumbar support is an option you add.

The 1200 has a closed back: a knitted front over a moulded shell, with the adjustable lumbar support built in. Flokk designed it for extra support and warmth: it feels more enclosed than mesh, and the support is spread across a continuous surface. It is also the slightly lighter chair, at 15.4 kg against 16.2 kg without armrests.

Task chair or Comm?

The four task models have the full HÅG Futu mechanism: tilt tension you can set, a tilt you can lock, and the option of a 200 mm lift and 3D armrests. Buy one of these for anyone who sits at a desk for hours.

The Comm 1102 is built for meetings and visitors. It keeps the inBalance® movement, seat height and seat depth adjustment, but leaves out tilt tension and the tilt lock, runs on the 150 mm lift only and stands on a four-star base with glides as standard — a five-star base with castors is available.

• EN 1335 Class A — the European office-chair standard.
• NPR 1813 — the Dutch practical guideline, which Dutch employers often ask for; specify 3D armrests.
• ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 and the GS mark.
• BS 5459-2 — the British test for intensive, round-the-clock use.

Flokk's test certificates are issued for the task chairs; the 1200 is the reference model.

Design

Who designed it

The HÅG Futu was designed by Marianne Støren Berg and Leif Isachsen of KODE Design with Halogen, Aleksander Borgenhov of PowerDesign and the Flokk design team. FutuKnit was developed by Camira's technical knitting team together with Flokk.

It has won a Red Dot Design Award for product design and a Green Good Design Award for sustainability.

Made in Norway

Built in Røros

Each Futu is assembled at Flokk's factory in Røros, the mountain town where HÅG has made chairs since 1957. Also built there and available here: the HÅG Creed, HÅG Tion and HÅG Capisco.

The aluminium in a Futu is 100% recycled. The chair comes apart without special tools, the parts are separable for recycling, and the knitted covers are made to shape with very little waste.

The biggest saving is the one you make by keeping a chair longer: gas lifts, bases, armrests, lumbar supports and castors are all available as spare parts, so a worn Futu is repaired rather than replaced.

The warranty

• 10 years against production defects, for normal use up to nine hours a day.
• 5 years for use beyond nine hours a day, with fabrics from the standard collection.
• 10 years on FutuKnit.

• HÅG Quick-Ship — 15 working days. The 1100-S and 1200-S in FutuKnit Night and Dusk.
• Standard collection — 20–25 working days.
• Extended collection — 35 working days or more.
