Balanced movement

As humans, we are meant to move. A HÅG chair moves with you.

Movement

Why HÅG chairs feel different

Most chairs are designed for one ideal posture. HÅG starts from the opposite idea: there is no single correct way to sit, and the best position is always the next one. That is why the chairs follow you, instead of holding you in place.

HÅG inBalance®

The seat and backrest move together around a balance point under the seat, so the chair follows your body when you lean back, lean forward or shift your weight. You change position all day without touching a lever. It is built into most HÅG task chairs, including the SoFi, Tion and Futu, and into the Capisco chairs with a backrest.

The saddle seat

Inspired by riders in the saddle, Peter Opsvik shaped the Capisco seat to open the hip angle and keep the spine naturally upright. Sit forwards, sideways or the wrong way round: every position works, from desk height to almost standing.

Quick to set up

Most HÅG chairs need only a few adjustments: seat height and, on many models, seat depth and tilt tension. A chair shared by several people is set up in seconds.

Design

Scandinavian design, made to last

HÅG chairs are developed and built by Flokk in Røros, a historic mining town in the Norwegian mountains that has been the home of the brand for more than 60 years. Every inner part and outer detail is designed to be used for a long time, and to be repaired rather than replaced.

HÅG has worked with external designers since 1972. The best known is Peter Opsvik, the designer of the Capisco (1984), the Capisco Puls (2010) and the Conventio. The Tribute is by Svein Asbjørnsen. The other families are designed by the HÅG and Flokk design teams together with partner studios.

Sustainability

A pioneer in sustainable chairs

HÅG was among the first furniture makers to document the environmental impact of its chairs, and still publishes it today. Chairs are designed with as little material as possible, with a high share of recycled content, and with parts you can replace.

Questions

HÅG office chairs: frequently asked questions

What makes HÅG chairs different from other office chairs?

HÅG chairs are designed for movement rather than one fixed posture. Most models use HÅG inBalance®, a balanced tilt that follows your body when you lean back or forward, and the Capisco chairs use a saddle seat that keeps your hips open and your back upright. The result is a chair you can sit on actively all day.

Which HÅG chair is best for long working days?

For eight hours or more at a desk, choose a fully adjustable task chair: the SoFi, the Creed or the Tion with an upholstered back. The Capisco 8106 is an excellent choice if you like to change between sitting low and perching high.

Which HÅG chair is best for a standing desk?

The saddle chairs. The Capisco and Capisco Puls reach a seat height of around 80 cm with the 265 mm gas lift, so you can perch at standing height. The backless stools (Capisco 8105, Capisco Puls 8001 and 8002) are the lightest option.

What is the difference between the Capisco and the Capisco Puls?

Both have Peter Opsvik's saddle seat and the same base and gas lifts. The classic Capisco is fully upholstered; the Capisco Puls has a slim plastic shell in nine colours with upholstery only on the seat, which makes it lighter and less expensive.

Which HÅG chairs are suitable for meeting rooms?

The Conventio is a stackable meeting chair. The SoFi and the Futu also come as Comm meeting chairs, and the Tribute as the Meeting 9073. For a boardroom, the Tribute 9021 or 9031 are often used as well.

Where are HÅG chairs made?

HÅG chairs are developed and built by Flokk in Røros, Norway, the home of the brand for more than 60 years.

What is HÅG inBalance®?

HÅG inBalance® is HÅG's tilt mechanism. The seat and backrest move together around a balance point, so the chair follows you when you shift your weight. On most models you can set the tilt tension to your body weight and lock the tilt.

What is the maximum user weight?

HÅG task chairs are tested to EN 1335 for users up to 110 kg. Each family page lists the details per model.

What warranty do HÅG chairs have?

10 years with normal use up to 9 hours a day, and 5 years on ESD and cleanroom versions. Spare parts remain available long after purchase.

Can I see the chair in my fabric and colour before ordering?

Yes. Every configurator shows your choice of fabric, colour and frame. For larger orders or fabrics not in the configurator, request a quote and we will help you.
